The Chevy Silverado Trail Boss is ready to hit the road, and Walter the Cat has returned for a new ad campaign to help spread the word. Here’s a look at the new truck — and the cute kitty that stars in the commercial.
First introduced in an ad spot during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Walter’s whole gimmick is that he’s a cat that acts like a dog. In the new 60-second spot, the tenacious tabby pulls a sled with a team of huskies, chases a mailman, and rescues a skier buried in snow. But his adorably impressive feats pale in comparison to the capable Chevy Silverado Trail Boss.
Meet the Trail Boss
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss is off-road-ready right from the factory. It boasts a fully boxed frame built from high-strength steel, along with underbody skid plates and an automatic locking rear differential. On top of that, it boasts a two-speed Autotrac Transfer Case and multiple four-wheel-drive modes, so you can drive confidently on the toughest trails. It’s high-tech, too — it comes standard with a 13.4-inch diagonal Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium System, complete with wireless smartphone connectivity and Google Built-In
If you’re looking for an adventure-ready, capable pickup truck, consider the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, available at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, Wisconsin.
As winter disappears in the rearview mirror, you’re probably feeling a sense of relief that you no longer have to worry about icy and snowy roads in Crivitz, Wisconsin. However, spring driving brings its own safety challenges, especially when it’s rainy out. Here are some tips to keep in mind when you’re driving in a downpour.
Turn off your cruise control
When it’s raining or the roads are wet, don’t use cruise control. If it’s switched on and you lose traction in slick conditions, you won’t be able to respond quickly by taking your foot off the accelerator.
Turn on your lights
A simple rule to follow: If you need to turn on your windshield wipers, you also need to turn on your lights. This way, it’ll be easier for other vehicles to see you coming even when visibility is limited.
Don’t hesitate to pull over or turn back
Have a hard time seeing the road ahead in a downpour? Pullover to a safe spot and wait it out (and be sure to turn on your emergency blinkers if you’re on the side of the road). And if you encounter a stretch of road that’s flooded or close to it, don’t risk your life or your vehicle — turn around and take a different route.
The change in seasons is a great time to schedule service at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz. We’ll rotate your tires, check your lights, and make sure your vehicle is in great shape to take on rainy weather.
Your vehicle’s hazard lights are an important tool for emergencies. If you need to pull over to the side of the road, these lights will help maintain safe conditions by alerting other drivers to your presence. However, there are certain situations where you shouldn’t use hazard lights. Here’s a guide to using them properly in Crivitz, Wisconsin.
When to Use Hazard Lights
When your vehicle is disabled on the side of the road: If you need to pull over to the side of the road because you were involved in a collision, your vehicle breaks down, or you have a flat or punctured tire, activate your hazard lights so you’re visible to everyone in the area.
When you get pulled over: If a police vehicle turns on its flashing lights and signals for you to pull over, comply as soon as it’s safely possible. You can turn on your hazard lights to communicate to the officer that you are pulling over as they’ve ordered.
When Not to Use Hazard Lights
While driving: In general, don’t use your hazard lights while driving. Activating them makes it difficult for other drivers to tell when you’re using your turn signals. If there’s heavy snow or rain, use your regular lights or get off the road instead of turning on your hazards.
While parking illegally: First of all, don’t illegally park at all, even if you’re just running in for a quick errand. And definitely don’t turn on your flashing hazard lights to make it look like you belong there.
Have questions about your vehicle’s lights, how you should use them, and whether they’re working properly? The service department here at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz is here to help!
The CES 2022 conference, taking place Jan. 5-8 next year in Las Vegas, will see the reveal of the new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV. The reveal will take place during General Motors CEO Mary Barra’s keynote speech, during which she’ll finally give more details on the elusive electric pickup.
Chevrolet has been tight-lipped about the upcoming Silverado EV, but there are a few things we know. The Silverado EV is built on the new Ultium Platform, which includes a modular battery pack that can be stacked in multiple directions to perfectly fit an individual vehicle. Per GM, Ultium also allows for incredible driving range, potentially up to 400 miles on a single charge.
We know the Silverado EV will offer available Four-Wheel Steer. Four-Wheel Steer is perfect for off-roading or driving in any tight spaces, allowing the driver to turn all four wheels at once for an incredibly tight turn radius. This feature even improves stability and handling at higher speeds, Chevy says.
Chevy has also teased the available fixed-glass roof, an industry first in the pickup segment. The fixed-glass roof will make for my headroom, improve visibility, and will make the cab feel brighter and more spacious. The expansive roof covers the front and backseat of the Silverado EV.
Stay tuned to the Frank Porth Chevrolet blog as we wait for more news on the exciting new 2023 Silverado EV.
During this Thanksgiving season, we all begin to think about all the things we are thankful for. Of course, we are thankful for our families, our friends, our health, and our lives, we can also appreciate the things we have. In this case, we are thankful for the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Here are a few reasons why.
If you are looking for strong diesel power, the Silverado 1500 is available with the Duramax® 3.0-liter turbo-diesel. It delivers 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It is available on the LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country trims.
15 available camera views
To help you monitor your trailer and navigate through tricky spaces, the Silverado 1500 is available with up to 15 camera views. These cameras can help with hitching, parking, and driving. There is even the innovative transparent trailer view that lets you “see through” your trailer as you drive.
All Silverado models come standard with the Durabed bed. This bed offers class-leading cargo volume in all three sizes. It comes with a high-strength-steel construction along with 12 standard tie-downs.
One of the newest features on the Silverado is the available Multi-Flex Tailgate. This tailgate folds into six distinct positions to give you more options for how you use the truck bed and tailgate areas, whether you’re prepping food for a tailgate party or need easier access to your camping gear.
Experience all that the 2021 Silverado 1500 has to offer when you test-drive one here at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, Wisconsin.
Driving in the fall has its hazards, but if you know what to expect and how to avoid those hazards, you’ll have a safe and accident-free season in your Chevy vehicle. Follow these safety tips during your fall drives in Wisconsin.
1: Check your tires
A drop in temperature can shrink the air in your tires, so check the pressure and add air if needed. It’s also a good time to check the tread. You need more traction during the colder months here in Wisconsin, due to the amount of rain and snow we get. If the tread is low, it’s time for new tires.
2: Clean your headlights
Headlights can get foggy over time, putting out less light. As the days get shorter and night comes sooner, you want as much light as you can get. Give your headlights a good scrub to boost the illumination they deliver and improve visibility.
3: Avoid high beams in fog
Using your high beams when driving through fog actually reduces your visibility, because the light reflects off the fog particles. So, use your regular headlights when navigating through foggy weather conditions.
4: Be careful of animals
You’re more likely to hit an animal during the fall than any time of year, thanks to lower visibility due to fall’s fewer hours of daylight. It’s also the season that critters tend to be out looking for a mate or stocking up on food for the winter. Keep your speed low and keep an eye out for deer and other wildlife that might be crossing the road.
5: Drive slow on leaves
The trees are rapidly shedding their leaves onto the roads, and leaves can make the road seriously slippery. If you’re driving on a leafy street, go slowly to avoid skidding.
Bring your Chevrolet in for service this fall here at Frank Porth Chevrolet. We’ll help prep your vehicle for colder weather so you can rest assured that it functions safely and smoothly during Wisconsin’s colder season.
Chevrolet had plans to give the 2022 Silverado 1500 a thorough refresh. The global microchip shortage has since delayed those plans. However, the refreshed truck is still in the works. In the meantime, Chevrolet is releasing a Silverado Limited model for the 2022 model year.
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited model will be available in Crivitz, Wisconsin later this year. General Motors also indicated that 2022 would be a “shortened model year.” This may mean the refreshed Silverado will be a 2023 model. Here is what you can expect from this Limited model.
The most notable changes to the Silverado 1500 Limited are in the engine lineup. For starters, the base Work Truck model will now come standard with the 2.7-liter Turbo engine while the previously standard 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 has been deleted entirely from the lineup.
The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine will now come standard on the RST Crew Cab. In addition, this engine will be available as an option on the Work Truck model. Finally, the Duramax® 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel I6 is an option on the LT Trail Boss trim.
Once the refreshed Silverado 1500 officially drops, it will come with the updated exterior styling, an overhauled cabin, a larger infotainment screen, and a new gear selector layout. Test-drive it when it arrives on our lot here at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz. And in the meantime, stop by to take one of the Silverado trucks in our inventory for a whirl.
As electric technology continues to improve, more and more drivers are making the switch to electric. To help make it even easier, GM has partnered with Shell to increase access to renewable energy sources for many EV owners.
This partnership will start in Texas. This summer, Texas residents who own a GM-branded EV will be eligible to charge their EVs for free overnight. The one stipulation is that it must be between midnight and 5 am when electricity demand is at its lowest.
This is just the first step in GM’s partnership with Shell. In addition to the free charging incentive, GM and Shell are planning to make it easier for GM owners to choose renewable energy. Owners of GM EVs like the Chevrolet Bolt EV will be able to choose home energy plans with fixed rates from energy sources like solar and wind.
Along with this partnership, GM’s electric future is looking bright. The company has plans to become carbon neutral by 2040 in both its operations and products. This includes releasing 30 new electric vehicles by 2025.
If you are looking for an EV in Crivitz, Wisconsin, Frank Porth Chevrolet can help. We will help you find the Chevrolet Bolt EV so you can go green with your driving.
The Chevrolet Equinox is one of the bestselling vehicles in America and it’s only getting better for 2022. Chief among this model year’s updates are styling revisions that make the Equinox more stylish than ever. Chevrolet has also tweaked the 2022 Equinox’s trim structure, which should make it easier for customers to get the model with the features they want.
Trim structure changes
In the past, the entry-level Equinox was the Equinox L. That model has been eliminated from the lineup, with the LS taking over as the base model. The L was meant to be a budget-friendly pick, but its lack of driver-assist features meant that most people upgraded to the LS anyway. But the best part? The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox LS starts at $600 less than the 2021 Equinox LS, giving you even more value than before.
New styling and tech
If you put the 2021 and 2022 Chevrolet Equinox side by side, the first thing you might notice is the styling updates. Both the front and rear end have a new look including a new grille design, new bumpers, and more striking LED headlights. Additionally, every Equinox now comes with a standard 7-inch touch screen, a redesigned dashboard, automatic high beams, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and Teen Driver functionality.
The Chevy Equinox was already a top pick for families and the 2022 model seems to be doing everything right to hold on to that distinction. Get a closer look at it at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, Wisconsin.
Congratulations on your pre-owned car purchase from Frank Porth Chevrolet! We are so excited to be part of your car ownership journey. Before you embrace the open road, though, there are several things you need to accomplish. Here is a rundown of what to do after buying a used car.
Insurance is a must as a car owner. The right policy will help protect you and your vehicle if it is stolen, in an accident, vandalized, or damaged from a weather-related event.
The title and bill of sale are two important pieces of paperwork. The former should state your vehicle’s mileage, and the bill of sale features the name of the seller and buyer as well as the purchase price of the vehicle. It serves as your receipt.
Typically, you will have approximately 30 days to register your vehicle and purchase plates at your local license bureau. Until then, you can drive with the temporary tags from the dealership.
You’ll need permanent plates and proper registration to drive legally, so you’ll need to make time for the Department of Motor Vehicles. You’ll need to pay required fees and present proof of insurance, title, and loan paperwork, if applicable.
Maintenance, too, is an essential part of owning a car. For all your vehicle maintenance needs, contact Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, Wisconsin.

Chevrolet takes that already impressive truck and makes it even more of a can’t-miss with the newly available Premium Package. As exciting as the warmer weather of spring can be, it can also present some new challenges for your car and your commute. Here are three tips to get your car ready for spring here in Crivitz, Wisconsin.
Clean your car
While you’re waiting for milder weather to arrive, take your car for a wash. This will remove any salt and grime that has accumulated on your vehicle during the winter and help prevent rust on the undercarriage.
Check the tire pressure
Constantly changing temperatures can do a real number on tire pressure. To keep your tires working as effectively and efficiently as possible, be sure to constantly check your tire pressure and inflate them when needed.
Test your car’s battery
Cold weather is rough on every component of your car, especially on the battery. So, make sure to test your battery to make sure it has enough life in it to keep your car functioning smoothly this spring. If it has been a while since you last changed this part, it’s probably time to do so.
No matter whether you’re anticipating spring day trips or longer road trips, Frank Porth Chevrolet will be happy to give your car a seasonal checkup. Call us today to schedule a service appointment.

Whether you’re saving up for a new home or you want to help your nest egg grow, you may be looking for ways to curb your expenses in 2021. Fortunately, there are several ways to do this that involve your car’s maintenance.
Keep Up with Scheduled Maintenance
It can be easy to lose track of the maintenance calendar for your vehicle. But if you keep up with the regularly scheduled maintenance for your car, truck, or SUV, you can save money in the long run by addressing small issues before they become larger, more costly issues.
Change Vehicle Filters
Your vehicle’s air filters can become some of the most overlooked components. Changing these filters on a regular basis can help your car perform more efficiently, saving you money on fuel, and provide a cleaner cabin and engine bay.
Check the Tires
Tires are among the most important, and unfortunately most vulnerable, components of your vehicle. Having under-inflated tires or over-inflated tires can affect efficiency, so you want to be sure the PSI for each tire is at the optimal level throughout the New Year. If you haven’t changed your tires in several years, now might be a good time to consider purchasing a new set.
Feel free to reach out to our maintenance team here at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, Wisconsin, for even more helpful maintenance tips to start the New Year off right.
For the 2021 model year, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is back — and it’s better than ever before. Not only does this model come with a new Multi-Flex Tailgate and a revamped design, but it also has enhanced trailering features and capabilities. The 2021 Silverado 1500 is a truly versatile truck that more safely and easily tows heavier loads than the outgoing model year.
Features include a new jack-knife alert system, which ensures that the truck and trailer are safely aligned, as well as an upgraded cargo bed view so you can easily monitor the payload behind you. Another new alert system provides you with a view beside and behind your trailer whenever the turn signal is on, which allows you to monitor potential obstacles or vehicles more easily before you change lanes.
The Silverado 1500 also comes with improved towing capabilities. For examples, the 2.7-liter turbocharged engine option has up to 9,600 pounds of maximum towing capacity when you opt for the regular cab/long box version. The 3.0-liter Duramax® turbodiesel engine also upgrades its towing capacity, letting you trailer an impressive 9,500 pounds.
What else is new on the 2021 Silverado 1500? This model year has new assist guidelines to make parking easier, while a trailer-angle indicator pairs with the rear trailer view to simplify reversing. There’s nothing quite like the new Chevy Silverado 1500. Experience it for yourself at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, WI.
Minivans are a popular choice when it comes to family-friendly transportation. But three-row SUVs are another smart choice for modern families. According to U.S. News & World Report, the Chevy Tahoe and Traverse are two of the Best Three-Row SUVs to Buy If You Don’t Want a Minivan.
The 2020 Tahoe made the publication’s list because it’s incredibly dependable. So dependable, in fact, that it earned a perfect predicted reliability rating.
And it can seat up to nine people when the seats are upright and offer a maximum cargo volume of 94.7 cubic feet when the back rows are collapsed. That makes it a spacious choice if you have a large family that needs all that space.
The Traverse was recognized by U.S. News & World Report because of its great cabin technology. It includes a standard Wi-Fi hot spot and an available rear-seat entertainment system that rivals similar systems on minivans.
It also comes with plenty of space with seating for up to eight people. With all of the tech features, like Bluetooth® audio streaming and an optional Bose® sound system, it’s easy to keep everyone entertained and your kids quieter on long trips.
Celebrate the Tahoe and Traverse’s minivan-like amenities when you test-drive each here at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz, WI.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a bit different from other vehicles in its class with regards to fuel economy. A diesel engine option helps this model secure its status as the most efficient vehicle in its class. And Chevrolet is introducing the XFE Fuel Economy Package to help the Silverado receive better fuel economy even without the diesel engine option.
Chief among these features for the package is a premium soft roll-up tonneau cover. This cover does a great job protecting any tools and supplies, while also minimizing drag, making the Silverado 1500 more aerodynamic and efficient. The package also includes all-season blackwall tires.
When equipped with the XFE Fuel Economy Package and the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 gasoline engine, the Silverado is capable of achieving an estimated fuel economy of 24 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg combined. Even with this added efficiency, the EcoTec3 engine can produce up to 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
For a more efficient pickup truck option, consider adding the XFE Fuel Economy Package to the next Silverado 1500 you purchase here at Frank Porth Chevrolet in Crivitz. We can also help you decide on other packages and add-ons to customize your truck just the way you like it.
Learning to drive is considered a rite of passage for American teenagers. However, not every teen is excited to get behind the wheel. Here are a few reasons why teens may be hesitant to drive.
Bad On-Road Experience
Even the most skilled driver will have a negative on-road experience at some point during their lifetime of driving. But, if a teen driver has this bad on-road experience early on when they’re learning to drive, it can leave them nervous about driving. Having a vehicle equipped with advanced safety features like the Teen Driver technology that comes on Chevrolet vehicles is a great way to boost their confidence behind the wheel.
Your teen might have an altruistic reason for not wanting to drive, such as being environmentally conscious. If they live in a city where public transportation is readily available, they might not even need to drive around as much.
Hesitant to Grow Up
Some psychologists suggest that a hesitant teen driver may avoid driving due to a reluctance to move onto the next stage of their adolescence. After all, driving is a big responsibility. If you think your teen is hesitant to get behind the wheel for this reason, it’s important to talk with them and address their concerns.
On the other hand, if your teen is excited to get their driver’s license, then you should consider reinforcing their enthusiasm by purchasing a new or used car for them here at Frank Porth Chevrolet.
Whether your teen is reluctant to drive or excited about it, remember to contact us at Frank Porth Chevrolet for your young driver’s automotive needs. Whether you’re helping them shop for their first car or need to schedule a service appointment for their vehicle, we’re here to support you and your teen in this new phase.
The 2020 Chevy Colorado and 2020 Silverado 1500 have been named to the U.S. News and World Report’s 13 Best Trucks for Towing list. The editors based their decision on the engines, transmissions, and towing packages in the two popular Chevy trucks.
Big Strength in a Small Package
The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado easily maneuvers through city traffic while still offering noteworthy towing power. Choose the 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with the six-speed automatic transmission and towing package to get a towing capability of 7,700 pounds. This combination is available on the Colorado’s LT trim.
The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 came in top of the list for light-duty trucks. The 6.2-liter V8 engine combined with the 10-speed automatic transmission delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque for a best-in-class capacity of 13,400 pounds. Add four-wheel drive, 20-inch wheels and the Max Trailering package for the ultimate towing experience. The Silverado also boasts 15 camera views to optimize visibility. This makes it much easier to hitching up a trailer and monitor what you’re pulling during the tow.
Celebrate the Chevy Colorado and Silverado 1500 trucks’ newest accolades when you stop by Frank Porth Chevrolet to test-drive these models. We’ll help match you with the right model and configuration to suit your preferences and needs.
Most of the country continues to shelter at home to avoid the spread of COVID-19, and the lucky ones are able to work from home. Working from home can be challenging on its own, and when you add a house full of kids to the mix it becomes even more difficult to navigate. These tips can help make the situation a bit less stressful for everyone.
Talk to both your employer and your family about what you will need during this time. Explain to your kids that even though you’re home, you’re still at work. Then, let your employer and coworkers know that you’ll be working from home with kids, and that there will be occasional interruptions.
Arrange virtual playdates
When you really need to be uninterrupted for a period of time, consider establishing virtual playdates for your children. Arrange a video call with grandparents, friends, or a favorite babysitter. Although it’s not the same as an in-person engagement, kids can still have fun and stay occupied reading books, singing songs, or playing games with their guardian through the video.
Increase screen time
Many parents are wary of letting their kids sit in front of a screen for too many hours a day. But if you’re comfortable with giving your kids more screen time, it can be a helpful way to keep them engaged while you’re working from home during this unprecedented time. Make sure to spend time doing hands-on activities together when your work is over and take breaks throughout the day to check in on them and let them know you care.
Frank Porth Chevrolet wishes you and yours a productive and pleasant summer. Remember to call us for any questions you have about car care or to set up a maintenance checkup for your vehicle.
While you’re stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, it can be difficult to not only keep yourself entertained but also to prevent your kids from feeling bored. If you’re looking for something new to pass the time, try out these fun games with your kids.
In recent years, a popular trend on YouTube and late-night television shows has been to place an item in a box and have another person guess the item by using just their hands to feel it. You can try this fun game at home by simply cutting a hole in the side of a shoebox and then placing different items in there. Your children can then take turns placing a hand in the hole, feeling the item, and guessing what it is.
If your family is missing your local bowling alley, you can try bowling at home during the pandemic. In a long hallway or an open living room, you can line up 10 water bottles at one end and make a starting line at the other end, using duct tape or a ruler. You and your kids can then bowl with a medium-sized ball.
If you haven’t broken out the puzzles already, it’s worth taking out your favorites or buying some new ones. Your children can put together a kid-friendly puzzle, while you occupy your time with a more difficult puzzle.
Frank Porth Chevrolet hopes your family enjoys playing these games. If you need a new family-hauler in Crivitz, Wisconsin, call us to learn about our available options.

For a while, GM has been undecided whether or not they would extend the Chevrolet Trail Boss trim to their line of SUVs and heavy-duty pickups. For now, at least, the Silverado 1500 will continue to be the only Chevy to carry the Trail Boss brand name.
The Silverado 1500 Trail Boss edition is an off-road beast,
coming standard equipped with the same off-road features as the Z71 Off-Road
package, including hill descent control and Rancho shocks. Also included is a 2-inch
suspension lift, 18-inch Mud Terrain Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac®
tires, and other premium off-roading features.
Though the Trail Boss trim may not be making its way into
the SUV market for now, the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban will offer a Z71 trim. These
models will include 20-inch wheels, upgraded tires, and available features such
as Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive suspension. The Z71 trim
includes a front skid plate, red tow hooks, and black on black chrome exterior
accents. As expected in an off-road vehicle, four-wheel drive will come
standard, with a two-speed transfer case for ultimate traction and control.
As far as Chevy’s HD series of pickups go, no HD Trail Boss
is in the works, but the Silverado HD Z71 Sport debuted at the 2019 SEMA show
and is slated for production in 2021.
Experience the Trail Boss trim and Chevy’s other truck variations when you stop by Frank Porth Chevrolet. We’ll help you find the right rugged model to suit your outdoorsy lifestyle.
